Job Summary
What Youll Do
- Lead day to day operations of the power station setting daily priorities integrating maintenance activities and planning for long-term operational performance all within contractual grid company and customer dispatch requirements.
- Own safety and environment compliance directly supervise safe working systems maintain a safety-conscious culture and ensure environmental controls and reporting requirements are consistently met.
- Manage agreements and processes ensure procedures are in place for effective management of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and all Fuel Supply Agreements and that all applicable GE Vernova operational procedures are followed.
- Develop and lead your team recruit train and coach direct reports including Shift Managers an Assistant Operations Manager and Chemist (where applicable); conduct regular performance assessments and actively support professional growth.
- Control operational costs prepare manage and monitor the Operations Department budget; identify and drive process improvement opportunities across all operational activities.
- Serve as a key stakeholder partner maintain effective working relationships with the Customer grid company fuel and water suppliers government agencies sub-contractors and GE Vernovas broader services organization.
Who You are
Youre an experienced operations professional with a background in power generation someone who leads with integrity communicates clearly across cultures and brings calm structured thinking to high-pressure situations. You hold yourself and your team to high standards and know how to balance technical rigour with people leadership.
Required:
- A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelors or Masters level) or equivalent professional experience in power generation operations
- Significant experience in power generation operations including some exposure to commissioning phases
- Proven experience in a line management or team leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of engineering practices and processes relevant to power station operation
- Solid understanding of environmental controls and regulatory reporting requirements
- Knowledge of risk management techniques
- Effective communication skills English including in multicultural team settings
Preferred:
- Familiarity with relevant power station legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Experience with commercial processes and budget management
- Prior experience in the commissioning and start-up phases of a relevant power station type.
