We are excited to welcome a passionate and enthusiastic Music Program/Learning Assistant to join our British Primary Section from August 2026. This role offers the opportunity to support and inspire students aged 311 through engaging music teaching and learning experiences within our vibrant international school community.

The Music Program Learning Assistant plays a pivotal role in maximising student engagement and ensuring the seamless operational delivery of the Primary Music Programme. Acting as a bridge between pedagogical support and administrative excellence the post holder will collaborate across departments to facilitate high-quality learning experiences coordinate event logistics and manage specialized music resources.

1. Teaching Learning & Classroom Support

• Collaborate dynamically with music teachers to elevate student learning engagement and attainment during classroom activities.
• Provide tailored support to individual students or small groups ensuring inclusive curriculum access and a strong sense of achievement.
• Assist in managing classroom environments to promote a focused positive and inspiring atmosphere for musical exploration.

2. Departmental Operations & Resource Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operational workflow of the Primary Music Department supporting teaching staff with daily logistical needs.
• Manage the procurement supply and maintenance of musical instruments and accessories proactively liaising with external vendors.
• Coordinate the rental instrument inventory for the Peripatetic Programme acting as a primary operational contact.
• Organise and maintain music practice rooms ensemble spaces and specialised instrument storage areas to ensure safety and readiness.
• Maintain a meticulous up-to-date departmental asset inventory and digital resources.
• Curate and update the digital music library ensuring timely uploads of scores tracks and educational media.

3. Event Management & Extracurricular Support

• Provide comprehensive logistical and technical set-up support for all school music events concerts and productions guided by the music faculty.
• Actively support Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and events related to music ensuring reliable supervision and operational continuity.
• Assist in planning and executing domestic and overseas music trips safeguarding student welfare throughout.

4. Curriculum Planning & Preparation

• Review and interpret lesson plans shared by teaching staff ahead of schedule ensuring all materials are fully prepared.
• Contribute operational insights to track student performance and progress metrics appropriately.

5. Collaboration & Professional Communication

• Maintain clear professional and proactive communication with staff students and parents/carers regarding departmental updates or requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the European Secondary Campus (ESC) Music Department to seamlessly deliver whole-school music initiatives.
• Liaise effectively with Peripatetic music instructors and local guest musicians to align scheduling and event execution.

7. Safeguarding Health & Safety

• Strictly promote and safeguard the health safety and well-being of all students in alignment with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines and internal school child protection policies.
• Provide compassionate care to children who are distressed or have experienced minor accidents escalating to the school nurse when necessary.

• Maintain impeccable standards of ethics behavior punctuality and attendance both inside and outside the classroom.

• Bachelors degree in Music Music Education or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 12 months (24 preferred) of professional experience within an educational setting live music industry or arts administration with verified experience supporting primary-aged children.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Chinese (written and verbal) to effectively manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities with 12 years of proven administrative or asset-management experience.
• Strong digital literacy; proficiency with musical software digital libraries and standard educational technology tools.
• Comprehensive understanding of current child safeguarding guidelines and requirements (e.g. KCSIE framework).
• A genuine passion for working with primary school students and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• A solution-oriented proactive mindset with a resilient approach to problem-solving under tight timelines.
• High emotional intelligence empathy and a collaborative spirit when dealing with teams and families.
