(HQ) Risk & Compliance Manager

Job Summary
The Risk & Compliance Manager is a leading role responsible for safeguarding the companys assets operational integrity. Operating within the fast-paced international freight forwarding and third-party logistics (3PL) sector this position oversees the development and execution of robust risk mitigation strategies with comprehensive commercial insurance programs strict regulatory compliance frameworks and comprehensive internal audit protocols with Global Security and Risk Management functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Insurance & Liability Architecture: Structure negotiate and maintain specialized logistics insurance & claim placements including Freight Forwarders Liability (FFL) Errors & Omissions (E&O) Marine Open Cargo Warehousemans Legal Liability and Third-Party Liability.
- Global Trade Compliance & Governance: Sanctions & Denied Party Screening: Maintain and audit robust automated mechanisms to enforce compliance with OFAC EU and global trade sanctions export controls and denied-parties matrices. Supply Chain Security Certifications: Act as the primary administrator for critical security and customs frameworks guaranteeing full compliance and successful renewal audits for C-TPAT AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) and local civil aviation security approvals (e.g. TSA IAC).
- Operational Audit & Third-Party Vetting: Subcontractor Due Diligence: Establish and enforce rigid onboarding and continuous audit protocols for third-party subcontractors including asset-based carriers local drayage providers and contract warehouses. Verify certificates of insurance (COI) and operational safety ratings. Internal Process Controls: Plan and execute systematic internal audits across regional offices and operating hubs to identify compliance gaps revenue leakage points or vulnerabilities in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Technical Skills
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management International Business Risk Management Insurance Law or a closely related discipline (Advanced degrees or a Juris Doctor JD are highly advantageous).
- Familiarity with automated trade compliance tools denied-party screening databases and global risk management systems.
- Proficient in standard office applications (MS PowerPoint Excel Word Outlook) for contract review data analysis audit documentation and reporting.
Knowledge/ Work Experience
- Ideally 10 years and above of direct experience in corporate risk management industrial insurance adjusting or trade compliance specifically within an international freight forwarding 3PL or global shipping environment.
- Profound grasp of Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations customs compliance and dangerous goods transit requirements (IATA/IMDG).
- Proven experience in managing and negotiating complex logistics insurance claims and coordinating with global security and risk management functions.
- Demonstrated experience in administering and securing critical regulatory frameworks (e.g. C-TPAT AEO TSA IAC).
