Senior Embedded Linux Engineer

Nordic Investin is recruiting a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer on behalf of one of our partner companies. You enjoy the point where kernel behaviour board constraints and product requirements meet.

The partner is creating a Linux based device platform for connected products. You will own essential parts of the operating system layer support new hardware and give application teams a stable secure foundation.

The environment will suit someone who enjoys building systems testing assumptions in code and taking responsibility for production behaviour. Technical choices are expected to be explained in terms of maintainability reliability and the people who use the product.

You will work in short delivery cycles with direct access to product domain and operational colleagues. The partner expects engineers to review designs test assumptions early and follow important changes into production. Decisions should be recorded clearly enough that another engineer can understand the tradeoff months later.

As a senior colleague you will own substantial outcomes and help others make stronger decisions. You are expected to recognise risk early communicate it without drama and move work forward with practical alternatives. The role still includes hands on delivery; seniority here means broader judgement not distance from the work.

• Perform board bring up and hardware focused fault isolation.

• Configure and maintain Linux kernels bootloaders and device trees.

• Develop or adapt device drivers and low level services.

• Build reproducible images with Yocto or Buildroot.

• Strengthen update networking and security mechanisms.

• Improve diagnostics performance and long term maintainability.

• Strong C or C plus plus programming ability.

• Hands on embedded Linux and board bring up experience.

• Knowledge of kernel interfaces drivers and hardware debugging.

• Production experience with Yocto or Buildroot.

• Understanding of networking and embedded security.

• Comfort working with electronics and application engineers.

• Secure boot OTA updates or trusted execution.

• Real time extensions or mixed Linux RTOS systems.

• Experience bringing a new hardware generation into production.

You may come from networking equipment vehicles industrial devices audio products or robotics. The common thread is that you have solved problems that could not be reproduced by looking at application logs alone.

This role gives you ownership of the layer that makes everything above it possible. The partner has technically demanding products close access to hardware and room for you to improve both the platform and the way it is built.

The exact partner employment model compensation start date and working arrangement will be explained openly during the process. Nordic Investin will make sure you understand the context expectations and decision path before you are asked to commit significant time.

During the process Nordic Investin will focus on concrete decisions you have made: the context you received the alternatives you considered the result you observed and what you would change today. You do not need every optional technology if your core experience transfers and you can explain how you would close the gap.
