RoleWe are looking for a Water Solutions Engineer to join our Customer Experience Team.
This is Qatiums Solutions Engineering role sitting at the intersection of water data technology and commercial problem solving.
Your primary focus will be pre-sales. You will work with prospective customers to understand their operational challenges available data and technology environment and determine how Qatium can help. You will lead technical discovery demonstrations workshops and Proofs of Value working with stakeholders ranging from water operators and hydraulic modellers to data and IT teams.
A significant part of the role involves working with real customer data. You will need to understand how different datasets fit together identify gaps or quality issues transform and prepare data when required and use Qatiums existing capabilities to demonstrate how the customers challenges can be addressed.
You will partner closely with Account Executives and work with Product Engineering Customer Success and our partners when additional expertise is required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical discovery
Understand the customers operational objectives workflows available data and technical environment. Identify the relevant use cases requirements and technical questions that need to be validated during the sales process.
Work with real customer data
Explore validate prepare and transform data from sources such as GIS hydraulic models and sensors or operational systems. Identify pragmatic ways to work through gaps and inconsistencies and make the data usable for demos workshops and Proofs of Value.
Design and demonstrate relevant solutions
Connect customer needs with Qatiums capabilities and determine the most effective way to demonstrate them. Build problem-focused demonstrations around real use cases rather than generic product tours.
Deliver technical workshops
Facilitate sessions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders helping customers understand how Qatium fits their workflows data and operational context. Explain complex concepts clearly and adapt the conversation to different audiences.
Own the technical side of Proofs of Value
Define technical scope and success criteria together with the Account Executive. Manage data readiness environment preparation and use-case validation to produce a clear technical outcome that supports the commercial decision.
Navigate integrations and architecture
Discuss APIs cloud environments integrations and data flows with customer IT and data teams. Assess technical feasibility and involve Product or Engineering when deeper expertise is required.
Bring what you learn back into Qatium
Identify recurring customer needs technical patterns and requirements across opportunities. Build reusable demos and tools and provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering to help improve the platform and future sales processes.
What Were Looking For
There is more than one background that can lead to success in this role.
You may come from water engineering and have developed strong data software and customer-facing skills. Or you may come from Solutions Engineering implementation data or technical consulting and have experience working with infrastructure or other complex operational environments.
Core requirements
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering technical pre-sales implementation consulting data or engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to work with unfamiliar or imperfect datasets
- Experience preparing validating transforming or integrating data from different systems and formats
- A good understanding of APIs cloud software integrations and data flows
- The ability to translate technical complexity into clear operational and business outcomes
- Confidence presenting and running workshops with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how technical validation contributes to a sales process
- The ability to manage several opportunities or Proofs of Value in parallel
- Fluency in English and Spanish
Highly valued
- Experience with water utilities or water distribution networks
- Familiarity with hydraulic modelling or GIS
- Exposure to sensors IoT SCADA or other operational technology environments
- Experience with infrastructure geospatial or other operationally complex software
