Job Description

Our client is seeking a motivated and hands-on Workshop Assistant to join their workshop team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work is eager to learn from experienced artisans and takes pride in producing quality workmanship.

As a Workshop Assistant you will support qualified artisans with the repair and maintenance of shipping containers while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist artisans and operators with the repair and maintenance of shipping containers.
  • Prepare work areas tools materials and equipment for repair activities.
  • Assist with measuring marking cleaning and preparing damaged areas for repair.
  • Perform painting and spray-painting of containers as instructed.
  • Carry out minor repairs under the supervision of a qualified artisan or operator.
  • Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools including angle grinders drills rivet guns hammers screwdrivers sanding equipment and caulking guns.
  • Maintain workshop tools machinery and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Keep the workshop and surrounding work areas clean organised and compliant with safety standards.
  • Follow all company health safety and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required by management.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Previous workshop manufacturing maintenance or industrial experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience using hand and small power tools is preferred.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual work.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions.
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
