Job Summary

Software Developer Contractor (Midrand On-site)

Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Software Developer to maintain and enhance legacy systems while supporting modernisation in a high-pressure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop new features and system enhancements
Maintain and stabilise legacy systems
Troubleshoot production and critical issues
Support real-time operational systems
Ensure security and data protection compliance
Collaborate across business ops and IT
Contribute to technical and architectural improvements

Core Skills (Mandatory):

C (strong proficiency)
SQL & Oracle RDBMS
Linux/Unix
Secure coding (OWASP input validation access control)
Oracle Pro*C

Requirements:

3 years development experience
Degree/Diploma advantageous
Proven delivery of production-ready solutions
On-site in Midrand (full-time NDA required)

Advantageous:

React / Go PHP
Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Rule-based systems large datasets batch processing
Real-time / 24/7 environments (e.g. logistics transport workforce planning)

Competencies:

Strong problem-solving and ownership
Works under pressure
Adaptable resilient detail-oriented
Able to work with complex legacy codebases and incremental changes
