PROPOSALS ENGINEER (Heavy Industry)

An internationally manufacturer based in Cape Town require the services of a proposals engineer with the appropriate level of experience.

Responsibility:

Reporting to the operations manager the proposals engineer is responsible for the preparation of detailed cost estimates and accurate proposals in full compliance with the request for tender.

Duties include:

• All administrative functions relating to the efficient execution of duties.

• Estimates:

Develop prepare and maintain standard estimates for standard products.

Develop prepare and maintain standard activity costing templates.

Prepare detailed estimates per enquiry.

Engage internal and external suppliers for pricing of materials and services.

Ensure technical and commercial compliance.

Prepare basic project schedules.

• Quotations:

Develop and maintain templates for various products.

Prepare detailed quotations which address all the specific requirements for full compliance with the request for tender.

Sales handover On order acceptance brief the operations team on the scope of work the technical commercial requirements and the detailed costing.

Requirements:

• Previous estimating experience in a medium to heavy engineering environment.
• Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Technical competence to interpret specifications and the ability to build detailed Bills of Material.
• Ability to work accurately independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent Computer skills.
