Duties & Responsibilities
Applicants are required to strictly meet the following criteria:
- BSc Eng / Beng In Mechanical Engineering with 3 years experience in a relatable engineering environment
- Valid passport or able to apply
- Excellent MS Office (incl Teams & report writing) ability and high level of English both written and verbal
- Sound understanding of 3D CAD packages (SolidWorks preferred); FEA software (SolidWorks/Abaqus preferred); and Engineering Calculations Software (Mathcad MATLAB or similar)
- Exposure to ASME VIII API and Class Rules (ABS & DNV) advantageous
- Sound understanding of fabrication boiler making / welding precision machining
- Design experience in essential as role is predominantly design based
The successful applicant would be responsible for but not limited to:
- Oversee multiple projects including your own and provide guidance
- Mentor junior mechanical engineers and technicians
- Gain a fundamental understanding of the design operation inspection and repair of Capital Drilling Equipment as well as all the processes procedures etc. of the Company
- Conduct in-house design and development which will be the primary function of the role including strength calculations (from first principles) and FEA/Simulation 3D CAD modelling and drawing using SolidWorks manufacturing data pack generation (incl. BOMs QCPs Works Instructions Manuals)
- Manage design and development Projects which will be the secondary function within the role from inception through to delivery ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures
- Giving expert technical advice to technicians and coaching new technicians
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes practices QC policies procedures and specifications
- Detailed reporting and inspection report reviews; regular report and feedback to Management and the customer on the progress of project
- Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions; draft new procedures as required
- Ensure safe work practices are being adhered to at all times
