EY-Parthenon also known as Strategy and Transactions (SaT) practice offers strategic corporate clients and private equity clients professional transaction advice and services from the strategic analysis phase of the transaction lifecycle through execution to transaction integration. We help clients determine the right deal to do and then assist them in doing the deal right.

The opportunity

Within SaT Minvest teams advise our clients on a variety of issues concerning their mining investments Mineral Resource estimations technical reviews mineral asset valuations financing and strategic options within the minerals oil and gas industries. The Minvest team is a specialised mining oil and gas team of experienced technical professionals including environmental scientists petroleum engineers geologists mining engineers and metallurgical chemical engineers

Your key responsibilities

The role is client facing and requires multi-commodity the role you will be required to execute on proposals project management and timeous invoicing. The role may require travel from time-to-time to remote locations.

The role is suitable to a person who has gained practical experience at a mining operation and has begun to develop competence in the Mineral Reserve estimation process. The role will require firm understanding of the mining industry with technical mining consulting experience in the following but not limited disciplines:

Skills and attributes for success

Open pit and/or underground related experience would be regarded as a MUST.

Mineral asset valuation and evaluation experience is required

Ability to utilise your expertise to conduct a full range of mining engineering functions

Demonstrate a sound understanding of the mining value-chain.

Exposure to Technical Due Diligence and Reviews.

Exposure in International Public Reporting Codes including but not limited to: SAMREC NI43-101 JORC and others.

Demonstrated experience with cross discipline collaboration in a mining environment

Exposure in assisting a Competent Person in Mineral Reserve estimation.

Performance/business improvement experience in the mining industry will be advantageous

Develop and mentor junior engineers and technical staff in the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments

To qualify for the role you must have

A Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering.

5 10 years relevant practical mining experience at a mining operation or consulting company

Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to building internal and external networks.

Strong computer skills including MS Excel Word PowerPoint and general report writing skills

Ideally youll also have

A holder or studying towards a financial or an accounting qualification
