South Africas leading online retailer is looking for a highly talented Inventory Manager to join our team in Johannesburg.

Purpose of the role: To effectively manage and oversee all operational activitiesduring the shift to ensure inventory accuracy timely stockinvestigations and smooth supply chain processes withinthe Distribution Centre (DC). The role ensures service levelagreements (SLAs) are met through accurate stocklocation and quantities improved operational efficiencyand compliance with health and safety standards whiledeveloping the operational teams performance. This position requires a candidate with the proven ability todrive process improvements and the ability to keep pacewith TAKEALOT explosive growth while motivating othersto meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven andfast-moving environment of E-commerce.

This position reports to the Inventory Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overall management and coordination of allwarehousing functions.
  • Ensure daily weekly and monthly planning is donefor all warehousing operations and manageadherence to plan
  • Management of resources to be effective andefficient at lowest cost and according to changingneeds
  • Effective leadership and direction for the operationteam through involvement and communication todeliver on the relevant key business drivers
  • Manage customer liaison process and ensure thatwarehouse queries are resolved timeously andexceptional trends are addressed
  • Ensure that warehouse space equipment and warehouse flow is optimized and that futurewarehouse requirements are planned
  • Ensure stock accuracy through disciplined stockcontrol and implement stock accuracy improvementinitiatives
  • Manage pick fails by ensuring investigations of alldeclared non-stock items thoroughly to meet SLArequirements and ensure customer orders arefulfilled accurately
  • Control stock investigations by ensuring all (LPNs)are thoroughly accounted for and closed off withinagreed timelines
  • Simplify and improve DC processes by managinglocation density SKU consolidation andreplenishment to optimize picking efficiency andensure sufficient filling space
  • Ensure efficient and timely processing of Ad hocInventory Activities such as re-dimensioning extras& damages processing and continuous locationdensity tracking to maintain operational efficiencyand service levels
  • Management reporting in terms of operationalperformance productivity stock control andBudgets
  • Manage projects according to stipulated timeframes
  • Ensure that all business processes procedures andjob profiles are documented and updated
  • Oversee mandatory training completion conductformal performance appraisals and action coachinginterventions within specified timeframes to supportoperational efficiency compliance and employeedevelopment
  • Ensure compliance with all Health Safety andEnvironmental (HSE) standards and legislation (OHSAct)
  • Maintain clean tidy and safe work environmentsthrough housekeeping 5S audits and conformanceto TAL standards
  • Maintain and sustain inventory bin accuracy to ensure SLA adherence and reduce stock loss
  • Close all stock investigations (LPNs) promptly andaccurately minimizing outstanding discrepancies
  • Achieve targeted pick fail rates on a daily andweekly basis to support flawless order fulfillment
  • Streamline DC layout and inventory storage toimprove picking speed and accuracy
  • Resolve customer and operational queries promptlyto enhance customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all ad hoc inventory tasks are processed ontime maintaining smooth operations
  • Complete all employee performance and trainingrequirements to uphold team efficiency andcompliance
  • Maintain a safe and compliant working environmentin line with all health and safety regulations
  • Operate an efficient Distribution Centre byidentifying implementing and managing optimalprocesses and procedures to minimize costs andmaximize working capital

Qualification & Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant tertiary education: Supply Chain ManagementLogistics Engineering Operations management etc.
  • 35 years experience in warehouse or distribution centerinventory control
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong experience in high-volume picking outbound andstock flow coordination
  • Proven track record of managing and maintaininginventory accuracy targets and resolving stockdiscrepancies
  • Experience with shrinkage control stock take / cycle count processes and root cause analysis
  • E-commerce experience
  • ERP systems knowledge
  • Experience in working with budgets and costanalysis
  • LEAN or continuous improvement
  • Performance management skills knowledge ofIndustrial Relations and practices
