Purpose of the role:The DC Manager: Inbound is responsible for holisticmanagement of the daily operationswithin the Inbound department for the Takealot Divisionincluding all subsidiary Inbound relevant person will ensure that performance targetsare met and that all relevantcompany / DC Policies and Procedures are always adheredto.
This position reports to the DC Operations Manager
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and ensure that all INBOUND (Supplier CollectsPutaway Receiving Unloadingand Yard Control) departments are well organised andcontrolled to sufficiently supportproduction and the goals of the business
- Implement improvement processes and maintainprocedures and systems to minimise costsand maximize working capital
- Ensuring all work areas are clean and tidy and safe for staff to work in
- Overall management and coordination of thewarehousing function
- Operate an efficient Inbound department by identifyingimplementing and managing optimalprocesses and procedures
- Responsible for efficiently managing all aspects of stockhandling within the realm of the job
- Ensure daily weekly and monthly planning is done for allinbound operations and manageadherence to plan
- Effective management of housekeeping
- Ensure efficient security and optimum storageconditions for all TAKEALOTs productlines
- Management of resources to be effective and efficient atlowest cost and according tochanging needs
- Effective leadership and direction for the operation teamthrough involvement andcommunication to deliver on the relevant key businessdrivers
- Constantly seeking new ways to improve the DC efficiencyand cost effectiveness
- Manage weekly and daily inter-branch transfers (IBT)from an inbound perspective
- Manage customer liaison process and ensure that DCqueries are resolved timeously andexception trends are addressed
- Ensure that DC space equipment and DC flow isoptimized and that future DC requirementsare planned
- Ensure accurate inventory records are maintained
- Support stock takes and support the analysis of stocktake results
- Measure and manage staff performance through formalstaff appraisals developmentcoaching and disciplinary procedures
- Ensure that all business processes procedures and jobprofiles are documented andupdated
- Management reporting in terms of operationalperformance productivity stock control andbudgets
- Participate in annual budget process and long-termplanning and control monthly operationalcosts to stay within budget
- Manage projects according to stipulated time frames
- Liaising with retail and marketplace buyers and sellers
- Measure and manage staff through formal staffappraisals development coaching anddisciplinary procedures succession planning
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelors degree / National Diploma in BusinessEngineering Supply Chain orLogistics required
- 8-10 years experience in Supply Chain Operations
- 5 years experience in operational project management
- 5 years experience in directly managing people todeliver continuous improvement(Lean principles 5S multiskilling cost saving drives)

- Strong verbal and written communications skills

- Must be Analytically minded and able to find and use data to inform decision making
- Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines

- Dynamic individual with proven experience in deliveringchange and innovative solutions
- Preferred experience:
Fast paced environment
E-commerce experience (preferable)
ERP systems knowledge.
Experience in working with budgets and cost analysis.
LEAN or continuous improvement
Performance management skills knowledge of IndustrialRelations and practices & Employee Relations
Strong financial acumen
Candidates must be flexible to work weekends and/orovertime regularly as required by the Operation.
Night shift during peak months may be required.
