Job Summary
Key Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics Freight Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in clearing and forwarding freight forwarding customs or international logistics.
- Strong knowledge of import/export procedures customs regulations shipping documentation and freight operations.
- Experience managing customs clearances permits and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience coordinating sea air and road freight operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
- Experience working with EDI systems and customs documentation.
- Own reliable transport and flexibility to accommodate operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Clearing and Forwarding department.
- Lead and supervise the clearing documentation and logistics team.
- Coordinate import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Manage customs clearance processes and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Apply for and monitor permits licences and regulatory documentation before expiry.
- Coordinate freight bookings with shipping lines airlines and transport providers.
- Track shipments and provide regular status updates to management and customers.
- Negotiate freight rates and optimise transportation costs.
- Ensure deliveries are completed within free-time limits to minimise demurrage and storage charges.
- Prepare freight quotations shipping documentation and commercial invoices.
- Liaise with customs authorities shipping agents transporters and other stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with import/export legislation customs requirements and company policies.
- Handle customs queries stopped cargo refunds tariff classifications and related matters.
- Analyse logistics performance and recommend process improvements.
- Prepare accurate operational reports and provide weekly updates to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics and supply chain function.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of customs legislation import/export documentation and freight operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook).
- Experience using EDI and customs systems is advantageous.
- Valid drivers licence and own reliable transport.
