Job Summary
Job Title: Mechanical Draftsman (HVAC Design)
Location: Qatar
Department: MEP / Engineering
Experience: Minimum 10 years (Qatar experience mandatory)
1. Purpose of the Role
To prepare accurate and detailed HVAC (air conditioning and ventilation) drawings and documentation ensuring coordination with all disciplines and compliance with project requirements local regulations and industry standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. HVAC Drafting & Design Support
- Prepare detailed HVAC drawings including duct layouts piping layouts equipment layouts and schematics.
- Develop shop drawings as-built drawings and coordinated MEP drawings.
- Support engineers in translating design concepts into technical drawings.
B. BIM & Coordination
- Develop and update 3D BIM models (LOD 300/400) using Revit.
- Coordinate with architectural structural and MEP teams to avoid clashes.
- Participate in clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks or similar tools.
C. Drawings & Documentation
- Ensure all drawings are accurate complete and aligned with project specifications.
- Maintain proper version control and drawing registers.
- Update drawings based on design changes and site conditions.
D. Standards & Compliance
- Ensure drawings comply with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and project standards.
- Follow company CAD/BIM standards and naming conventions.
E. Construction Support
- Assist in resolving site-related drafting issues.
- Update drawings based on site instructions and red lines.
- Coordinate with site engineers for as-built documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting
- Minimum 10 years of HVAC drafting experience
- Mandatory: Proven Qatar project experience
- Experience working with MEP contractors or consultants
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting)
- Strong experience in Revit MEP (3D modeling)
- Familiarity with Navisworks / BIM coordination tools
- Good understanding of HVAC systems ducting and piping standards
