Senior Platform Engineer (AKS Azure Service Mesh)

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to contribute to the design implementation and continuous improvement of our Kubernetes platform on Azure (AKS) supporting service mesh technologies platform automation and cloud-native engineering practices.

You will work in a highly regulated financial environment helping deliver secure reliable and scalable platform services that support critical business applications.

As part of a collaborative engineering team you will work with senior engineers developers system administrators and architects to implement platform capabilities troubleshoot complex technical challenges and support the adoption of modern cloud technologies across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Build configure and support AKS platform components and related Azure services
• Implement and maintain service mesh capabilities (Istio or similar) following established platform standards
• Contribute to platform automation using Terraform GitOps and CI/CD practices
• Support the implementation of networking security and governance controls
• Troubleshoot platform and application integration issues in collaboration with development teams
• Participate in platform upgrades migrations and continuous improvement initiatives
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
• Share knowledge with team members and support onboarding activities
• Participate in operational support and watch duty rotations

• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting
• Azure networking fundamentals
• Helm
• Git-based workflows
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Good understanding of:
• Service Mesh technologies (Istio Linkerd Kuma etc.)
• Network policies
• TLS certificates and platform security concepts
• GitOps practices (ArgoCD or similar)
• CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with:
• Supporting and operating production platforms
• Agile/Scrum delivery models

• Working with developers to troubleshoot and improve platform services
