About the Company
Our client is a Houston-based transportation and logistics operation managing two active trucking businesses servicing high-volume commercial routes across the United States.
The companies currently operate a combined fleet of approximately 20 drivers across dry van and flatbed operations supporting customers in package delivery and industrial freight transportation.
One operation primarily services FedEx-related routes while the second supports steel mill transportation and flatbed logistics.
As the business continues to grow leadership is seeking to establish reliable overnight operational coverage to ensure drivers have immediate support during after-hours situations emergencies and route-related issues.
Role Overview
The Night Dispatcher will serve as the primary overnight operations contact for drivers across both trucking companies.
This role is responsible for monitoring active routes responding to driver issues in real time escalating emergencies appropriately and helping maintain smooth overnight operations while the daytime management team is offline.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure highly responsive organized and experienced within transportation or trucking environments.
Prior dispatch or logistics coordination experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor active driver routes and statuses overnight using GPS/ELD systems such as Motive
Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers during overnight shifts
Respond to operational issues including:
Breakdowns
Flat tires
Accidents
Route disruptions
Urgent delivery concerns
Coordinate communication between drivers customers and management as needed
Escalate major emergencies or critical operational issues to the day-shift manager
Maintain accurate records of overnight incidents and driver communications
Provide detailed end-of-shift summaries and operational updates
Support smooth overnight fleet operations across both trucking companies
Maintain professionalism and urgency in high-pressure situations
Required Hard Skills
Prior experience in trucking transportation dispatching or logistics operations
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Comfortable managing multiple drivers and situations simultaneously
Experience handling urgent operational or driver-related issues
Ability to work overnight U.S. hours consistently
Strong computer and communication platform proficiency
Highly organized with strong follow-through
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Motive or other ELD/GPS fleet management systems
Experience supporting FedEx routes or time-sensitive freight operations
Prior remote dispatch or freight coordination experience
