Primary Responsibilities

Information Security - Maintains the security confidentiality and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Designs implements and operates controls and management strategies to allow this.
IT Infrastructure - Supports designs and implements infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: compute storage networking physical infrastructure software database middleware commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions virtual and cloud including IaaS PaaS and SaaS.
Ownership & Initiative - Takes ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements. Takes full accountability for actions taken and decisions made.
Problem Solving - Understands and identifies problems analysing and helping to identify the appropriate solution. Can classify and prioritise problems document their causes and implement remedies.
System Design - Creates the specification and design of systems to meet defined business needs. Has the ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designs. Able to visualise the ideal user service come up with design ideas and possible design approaches. Explores different approaches to solving problems.
Service Focus - Maintains focus on the whole life of service delivery - designs develops delivers and operates. Ensures that a set of IT products suppliers and vendors come together to deliver an IT service.
Technical Understanding - Has the specific knowledge which underpins an individuals ability to deliver the responsibilities and tasks of their role. This relates to the application of the required breadth and depth of technical knowledge.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving - Has lateral thinking capability to dissect a problem into its component parts to identify and diagnose root causes allowing problem resolution. Able to troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities including compute storage networking physical infrastructure software commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions virtual and cloud including IaaS PaaS SaaS.

Required Education

Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience

At least 1 year relevant experience

Preferred Competencies/Skills

Information Security - Awareness - Aware of information security and the security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within solutions and services.
IT Infrastructure - Practitioner - Builds and configures administers and supports infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: compute storage networking physical infrastructure software commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions virtual and cloud including IaaS PaaS SaaS.
Ownership & Initiative - Working - Owns an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated and / or resolved.
Problem Solving - Awareness - Able to investigate problems in systems processes and services with an understanding of the level of a problem (e.g. strategic tactical operational). Can contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
System Design - Working - Translates logical designs into physical designs. Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards methods and tools including prototyping tools where appropriate. Designs systems characterised by managed levels of risk manageable business and technical complexity and meaningful impact. Works with well-understood technology and identifies appropriate patterns.
Service Focus - Working - Takes inputs and establishes coherent frameworks that work.
Technical Understanding - Working - Understands core technical concepts related to their role and is able to apply them with guidance.
Troubleshooting & problem resolution - Working - Able to troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

Microsoft MCSE VMware certification PMP EMP certification

Preferred Knowledge

Working knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems; their implementation & management in an enterprise environment along with troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of Citrix family of hosting and publishing technologies; including XenApp XenDesktop and Citrix Cloud
Working knowledge of Estate management & software deployment technologies including Microsoft Software Center Configuration Manager and Microsoft Application Virtualization
Working knowledge of Active Directory & associated technologies; implementation & management in an enterprise environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Office 365 messaging & collaboration services; their implementation & management in an enterprise environment
Working knowledge of Cyber Security principles & practices with experience of working in regulated environment
Working knowledge of ITIL service management principles & tools and their use in an enterprise environment including ServiceNow & Jira

General office jobs: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone headset and computer.
