Job Description: MEP Engineer (Manual J & HVAC Specialist)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled MEP Engineer with proven expertise in Manual J heat load calculations and advanced HVAC system design. The role involves performing precise load analyses developing efficient HVAC solutions and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The engineer will collaborate with architects contractors and project managers to deliver optimized mechanical electrical and plumbing designs for residential and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed Manual J heat load calculations for residential and commercial buildings.
• Design size and specify HVAC systems based on load analysis and project requirements.
• Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure accurate integration of MEP systems.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment selection ductwork design and energy efficiency.
• Prepare and submit technical reports compliance documentation and project specifications.
• Conduct on-site inspections to validate installation and performance of HVAC systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum 35 years of experience in MEP engineering with a focus on HVAC systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in Manual J load calculations and HVAC design.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g. Wrightsoft Elite RHVAC AutoCAD Revit MEP).
• Strong knowledge of Manual J Manual D and Manual S standards.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE guidelines energy efficiency codes and sustainability practices.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel and technical reporting tools.
