Information Security Intern

Job Overview:

As an Information Security Intern you will support the security team in protecting sensitive healthcare data and maintaining compliance with industry standards. This role is designed for learning and hands-on exposure to real-world security practices including risk assessment monitoring and policy implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and AI governance frameworks.

• Stay updated with evolving compliance standards cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements.

• Assist in awareness initiatives related to security and compliance best practices.

• Assist in reviewing and documenting information security policies and procedures.

• Support the team in conducting basic risk assessments and identifying potential security issues.

• Track remediation actions and follow up on identified audit findings or risk items.

• Participate in security awareness sessions and help promote security best practices across teams.

• Assist in audit evidence collection and documentation tasks.

• Support internal audit activities and compliance checks (e.g. ISO 27001 SOC2 HIPAA).

• Help maintain documentation related to security incidents and processes.

• Collaborate with team members on ongoing security projects and initiatives.

• Assist in business continuity and disaster recovery documentation (BCP/DR).

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Information Technology Computer Science or a related field.

• Basic understanding of Information Security concepts (CIA triad access control risk management).

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 HIPAA or PCI-DSS is a plus.

• Awareness of governance risk and compliance (GRC) principles.

• Strong analytical documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint).
