Our client a Karachi-based State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI) seeks to appoint an experienced professional for the following role.

HEAD OF PARTNERSHIP & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Job Scope

As a Head of Partnership & Business Development you will be responsible for the Partnerships and Business Development function and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnership Strategy & Execution Own and drive the end-to-end partnership and business development strategy from opportunity identification and negotiation to commercial structuring contracting and integration handoff.
  • Strategic Distribution Partnerships Build and scale strategic distribution and channel partnerships across sectors including but not limited to fuel retail ride-hailing and last-mile logistics e-commerce utilities insurance telecom and retail to expand transaction volume and active user acquisition.
  • Merchant Acquisition Strategy Define and drive the merchant acquisition strategy to expand network reach beyond the core distribution footprint.
  • Commercial Discipline Apply a disciplined commercial framework to evaluate and prioritise partnership opportunities against long-term value and cost of acquisition ensuring sustainable profitable growth.
  • Contract Negotiation Structure and negotiate commercial agreements ensuring terms align with business and regulatory requirements and represent the Company in partner-facing engagements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Technology Finance Legal & Compliance and Marketing to ensure smooth partner integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the digital payments and fintech landscape industry trends and competitor activity to identify new partnership opportunities.
  • External Representation Represent the Company externally building and maintaining relationships with key commercial partners and channel stakeholders.

Education

  • Minimum 16 years of education preferably masters from a renowned HEC recognized university or institution/equivalent foreign degree holder preferably in Business Administration Finance Economics and/or any relevant field.

Experience

  • Business Development Leadership Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Business Development and Partnerships ideally within fintech payments or digital businesses related functional experience in a similar role at an equivalent position or in one level below position.
  • Payments Sector Exposure Proven experience in a Business Development Partnerships or Alliances role with a good understanding of the payments space preferred.

Requirements

  • Commercial Track Record Demonstrated track record of building and closing strategic commercial partnerships ideally within digital payments fintech or financial services.
  • Negotiation & Deal Structuring Strong negotiation and commercial structuring skills with experience managing partner relationships from initial engagement through contracting and execution.
  • Start-Up Agility Ability to excel in a dynamic evolving and fast paced start up environment.
  • Stakeholder Management Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior leadership regulators and institutional partners.
  • Payments Landscape Awareness Good understanding of the digital payments and financial services landscape is preferred.
  • Strategic & Problem-Solving Skills Strong strategic planning project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-Starter A resourceful self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills.
