Duration: 12 Months
Duty Station: Lasbela Balochistan

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
The Lasbela district in coastal Balochistan continues to face a persistent food security and nutrition crisis. Classified in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis) and assessed in AMN Phase 34 the district reflects a reality where malnutrition remains severe even as awareness of healthy practices has improved. The binding constraint is no longer knowledge alone but the structural last-mile food environment gap: nutritious foods remain seasonally unavailable unaffordable or inaccessible - particularly for remote coastal communities and fisherfolk households with limited access to fresh vegetables during long fishing trips.
The proposed initiative is explicitly structured around the 4As Framework for Food Security and Nutrition - moving beyond Awareness to ensure Availability Accessibility and Affordability of nutritious foods through durable community food systems.
Over the past two years WFPs investments under GLLSP-II and WE-LED have established four robust operational community platforms WE-LED (Women Empowerment through Livelihood and Enterprise Development) centers and NutriHubs and trained 113 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) demonstrating strong potential for sustainable women-led nutrition-sensitive livelihoods. This project will carry out a strategic consolidation phase to protect and multiply these investments by transforming WE-LED/ NutriHubs and the CRPs into durable district-level food system assets with additional layering of resilience building at community level through restoration and creation of critical communal infrastructure for protecting lives and livelihoods at community level.
