Job Summary

GENERAL WORK DESCRIPTION:

The Warehouse Officer is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the warehouse and distribution points by performing various tasks related to inventory management logistics and warehouse organization for seamless operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate and updated physical and electronic inventory records including stock cards and ledgers

  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts to reconcile with records and identify discrepancies losses or damages.

  • Oversee safe and efficient receipt storage and dispatch of commodities according to established procedures and donor policies.

  • Implement and enforce warehouse best practices including the FIFO/FEFO (First-In First-Out/First-Expired First-Out) system.

  • Ensure proper handling stacking and storage of goods to optimize space and prevent damage or contamination.

  • Ensure that all stored commodities adhere to donor and organizational quality and storage standards.

  • Implement and monitor measures to control spoilage contamination and pest infestations.

  • Maintain a secure and organized filing system for all commodity-related documents and record

  • Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of warehouse equipment.

  • Implement and ensure adherence to all safety and security protocols including controlling access to the warehouse.

  • Coordinate with other teams such as procurement to ensure timely receipt of supplies and logistics teams for timely dispatches.

  • Support commodity officers and mobilizers during distribution activities.

QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • HND or Bachelors in Accounting Supply Chain Management Logistics Agriculture and related fields.

  • 2-3 years cognate experience in Warehouse Operations and/or Inventory Management preferably in the commodities industry.

  • Strong knowledge of commodities storage regulatory standards and health and safety guidelines.

  • Physical stamina that is the ability to stand for long hours.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Good documentation and recordkeeping skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite especially Excel for documentation and reporting.
