Job Summary

In partnership with our client we are seeking a Trainer to drive capability building across the sales teams of a leading sportswear and lifestyle retail brand based in Lagos. You will design and deliver training programmes that sharpen product knowledge elevate sales effectiveness and improve the overall customer experience across the region. This is a hands-on people-first role for someone who is energetic credible and passionate about helping others grow. Who are we looking for
  • You are an experienced trainer with 4 to 5 years of experience in sales or product training ideally within a retail or customer-facing environment.
  • You are a dynamic and engaging facilitator who knows how to hold a room adapt your style to different learners and make even complex content feel accessible and practical.
  • You are a skilled coach and mentor comfortable working one-on-one with sales staff and store managers to develop their skills build their confidence and drive lasting behaviour change.
  • You are commercially minded with a strong understanding of sales processes and retail operations enabling you to connect training content directly to business outcomes.
  • You are organised and data-driven able to plan and manage a regional training calendar track effectiveness metrics and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • You are a natural collaborator comfortable working across sales product marketing and operations teams to ensure training content is always aligned with business priorities and product launches.
  • You are a strong written and verbal communicator credible and professional in your interactions with both frontline staff and senior business leaders.
Your Responsibilities
Training Delivery and Execution
  • You will conduct classroom on-the-job and virtual training sessions delivering structured onboarding and continuous learning programmes that build capability across retail teams.
  • You will use workshops role-plays and interactive learning methods to drive engagement deepen understanding and ensure that what is learned in the training room translates directly to the shop floor.
Capability Development
  • You will build strong product knowledge and sales capabilities within teams equipping staff with the confidence and skills to deliver exceptional customer experiences and consistently meet sales targets.
  • You will coach and mentor sales staff and store managers on a regular basis providing targeted feedback and practical guidance that supports both individual growth and team performance.
  • You will drive behavioural and skill-based development across the region working with individuals at different capability levels and tailoring your approach to meet them where they are.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • You will partner with sales leaders to strengthen process adoption supporting readiness for new product launches seasonal campaigns and key business initiatives.
  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product marketing and sales operations to ensure training content is always relevant current and commercially grounded.
Training Planning and Reporting
  • You will create and execute a regional training calendar ensuring all planned programmes are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
  • You will track training effectiveness through defined KPIs including knowledge retention sales readiness and adoption metrics maintaining training records reports and dashboards that give leadership clear visibility into learning impact.
Content Implementation
  • You will customise and localise training modules based on regional needs ensuring global content is adapted in a way that is relevant practical and immediately applicable for Nigerian retail teams.
  • You will deliver product and process training aligned with business goals ensuring every session is purposeful outcome-focused and directly connected to the priorities of the commercial team.
What Success looks like
  • A regional training calendar delivered consistently and on time with high attendance strong learner engagement and positive feedback across all programmes.
  • Measurable improvement in product knowledge scores sales readiness and customer service quality across trained teams tracked through defined KPIs and post-training assessments.
  • Strong coaching relationships with store managers and sales staff that result in visible and sustained improvements in selling behaviour and customer engagement on the floor.
  • Accurate and up-to-date training records reports and dashboards maintained consistently providing leadership with reliable data on learning activity and impact.
  • Seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams that ensures training content is always aligned with the latest product launches business priorities and brand standards.
To be considered for this role you should have
  • A Bachelors degree in Business Administration Marketing Education or a related discipline.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in training preferably in sales or product training within a retail or customer-facing environment.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering training to customer-facing or sales teams with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and business leaders to align training with commercial priorities.
  • Strong facilitation presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • A coaching and mentoring mindset with the ability to drive real behaviour change through targeted development conversations.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes and retail operations.
