Senior Mechanical Coordinator
Job Summary
Reporting to the Project Director the Senior Mechanical Coordinator will provide overall management direction for a project or group of projects and will perform additional duties that include procuring equipment and subcontracts monitoring and accurately projecting job costs maintaining billing and schedules and providing technical support and leadership to the field.
Additional responsibilities include providing production oversight with the projects Superintendent on the day-to-day activities of assigned projects.
The Senior Mechanical Coordinator will also develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to foster better communications and develop future work.
Ultimately responsible for quality projects being built on time and within budget.
Reviews project estimates and verifies the accuracy of entry into the job cost system as well as the accuracy of the initial estimate.
Conducts pre-job and continuing planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand contract terms and conditions clauses schedules or any unusual requirements of the project.
Documents planning meeting results and ensures all action items are completed. Develops and keeps current project schedules.
Monitors personnel manning schedules to ensure they match project schedules.
Establishes and executes subcontract and equipment buy-outs to support schedules and funding.
Visits job sites or onsite offices daily. Performs work inspections checks job progress and resolves project and contract issues.
Investigates potentially serious job issues and implements corrective measures.
Stays on top of all scope changes to ensure they are processed and incorporated into the current scope of work in a timely manner.
Provides material take-off estimate and pricing for changes to work scope.
Conducts and attends job meetings according to customer and company guidelines and schedules. Reviews design to verify the coherence between equipment nomenclature.
Verification of the processes used during the project and management.
Identification and/or definition of specific tool requirements (tools protections) and if equipment mock-up is needed for mechanical integration activities.
During the operation phase ensures the application of the instructions given during the daily meeting and coordinates daily activities.
Interfaces with the Engineering team during the design phase and participates in Change Committees updating documents as a result of the desired change.
Preparation scheduling and coordination of activities.
Performs any other duty as assigned by management.
First Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
Minimum of 1012 years project management experience in engineering construction or MEP projects as an Expat.
Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Mechanical Engineering Systems Knowledge (HVAC plumbing fire protection piping and related mechanical systems).
Project Coordination and Planning.
Technical Drawing Interpretation and Specification Compliance.
Quality Assurance Quality Control (QA/QC) and HSE Compliance.
Problem-Solving and Attention to Detail.
Communication and Stakeholder Coordination.
Time Management and Organizational Skills.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Required Skills:
Education First Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline. Professional Certifications PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred. Experience Minimum of 1012 years project management experience in engineering construction or MEP projects as an Expat. Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
