Job Summary
In partnership with our client we are seeking an IT Manager to oversee the entire information technology function of a fast-growing retail brand based in Lagos. You will be responsible for ensuring that every system server application and network across all retail outlets and offices runs reliably securely and in full alignment with the business. This is a senior high-ownership role for a technically strong and strategically minded IT leader who understands retail and knows how to translate business needs into technology solutions. Who are we looking for
- You are an experienced IT operations leader with 8 to 10 or more years of progressive experience in IT including at least 3 years leading IT operations within a multi-site retail or FMCG environment.
- You are technically broad and deep with strong knowledge across network infrastructure cloud computing enterprise applications cybersecurity and POS systems.
- You are strategically minded able to translate business needs into technology solutions and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive leadership.
- You are a strong people leader who can develop mentor and hold a specialised technical team accountable while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- You are security-conscious and compliance-driven understanding the importance of data protection access management and cybersecurity governance in a retail context.
- You are highly organised and detail-oriented able to manage multiple systems vendors projects and priorities simultaneously without losing focus or quality.

Your Responsibilities
Cybersecurity and Data Protection
- You will oversee the enforcement of stringent cybersecurity policies safeguarding company data against internal and external threats at all times.
- You will maintain compliance with relevant data protection regulations and oversee regular security audits and vulnerability assessments across all systems and platforms.
- You will ensure proper Identity and Access Management protocols are followed for all onboarding offboarding and role changes across the organisation.
- You will coordinate incident response and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity in the event of any system failure or security breach.
Enterprise Applications and Systems
- You will guide the deployment integration and maintenance of enterprise applications including ERP CRM and HRIS ensuring they are optimised for user efficiency and aligned with departmental workflows.
- You will ensure real-time integration between retail systems finance and e-commerce platforms maintaining a seamless flow of data across the business.
- You will oversee software development lifecycles system upgrades and third-party application management ensuring every solution meets the businesss operational needs.
IT Infrastructure and Operations
- You will ensure the smooth functioning of all IT systems servers POS terminals and network connectivity across all retail outlets and offices maintaining 100% operational uptime as the standard.
- You will oversee daily IT operations including system uptime user access and hardware and software performance across the entire organisation.
- You will coordinate with the Group IT team on system maintenance backups and business continuity planning and manage vendor relationships and SLAs with IT and telecom providers.
Team Leadership and Development
- You will lead mentor and develop the core IT team setting departmental goals conducting performance reviews and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- You will act as the primary bridge between the IT department and executive leadership ensuring technology strategy always supports and enables business objectives.
User Support and Digital Literacy
- You will provide end-user support for retail and corporate staff managing the IT support team and helpdesk operations to ensure prompt and professional resolution of all technical issues.
- You will conduct user training sessions to improve digital literacy across the organisation and promote compliance with IT policies and procedures.
- You will ensure efficient onboarding of all new employees with the right IT access tools and setup from day one.
- Innovation and Digital Transformation
- You will lead IT initiatives that enhance customer engagement operational agility and digital transformation supporting the rollout of retail technology projects including mobile POS digital payment systems and customer loyalty platforms.
- You will drive continuous improvement through automation and system optimisation and collaborate with Group IT on enterprise-wide integration and innovation programmes.
- You will prepare and manage the IT budget in alignment with Group IT cost-optimisation goals tracking and reporting IT performance metrics incidents and project milestones to the Group Head of IT.

- 100% operational uptime maintained across all retail outlets offices and enterprise systems with no material disruptions to POS network or business-critical applications.
- A fully secured IT environment with zero material data breaches consistent compliance with data protection regulations and clean results from regular security audits.
- Enterprise applications including ERP CRM and HRIS optimised and running efficiently with seamless real-time integration across retail finance and e-commerce platforms.
- A high-performing well-developed IT team that operates with technical excellence clear accountability and a continuous improvement mindset.
- IT helpdesk operations running efficiently with all technical issues resolved within agreed SLA timeframes and high user satisfaction across retail and corporate staff.
- IT projects delivered on time and within budget with clear reporting to the Group Head of IT and measurable impact on operational efficiency and retail performance.
To be considered for this role you should have
- A Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Information Systems or a related field. A Masters degree or MBA with a focus on Retail Technology or IT Strategy is an added advantage.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA/CCNP CompTIA Network CompTIA A ITIL or Microsoft Certifications are required.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive IT operations experience including at least 3 years leading IT teams within a multi-site retail or FMCG environment.
- Direct experience supporting POS systems thermal receipt printers barcode scanners and cash drawers with a strong understanding of retail operational workflows.
- Experience configuring and managing physical access control systems including biometrics or smart card access.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure cloud computing enterprise business systems and modern cybersecurity frameworks.
- Proficiency in operating systems including Windows macOS and Linux with strong network troubleshooting skills across LAN/WAN firewalls switches and routers.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 cloud environments ERP and CRM support and IT helpdesk ticketing systems.
