HVAC TECHNICIAN — DAIKIN VRV, AHU & CHILLERS
Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY
The HVAC Technician will maintain service and repair a large-scale commercial HVAC system comprising Daikin VRV/VRF systems air handling units (AHUs) and chillers all managed through a Building Management System (BMS). The role requires a technician confident working independently on routine PPM while escalating complex faults appropriately in a live 24/7 high-footfall environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out scheduled PPM (monthly/quarterly) on VRV/VRF outdoor and indoor units AHUs and chiller plant per OEM (Daikin) service intervals.
Clean/replace filters inspect coils and condensate systems and check refrigerant lines for leaks across all zones.
Diagnose and repair mechanical electrical and refrigerant-circuit faults on VRV systems AHUs and chillers.
Monitor and respond to BMS alarms and trends; support fault-finding using BMS data.
Check thermostat calibration compressor amperage and condenser performance; carry out deep cleans on schedule.
Support chiller-specific tasks: water treatment checks pump and cooling-tower inspection and load monitoring.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs service records and defect reports using the facilitys CMMS/CAFM platform.
Respond promptly to HVAC-related emergency call-outs including out-of-hours where required.
Follow safe isolation and permit-to-work procedures at all times; no bypassing of safety systems under any circumstance.
Liaise with the HVAC Lead/Chief Engineer on parts requisition defect escalation and PPM scheduling.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
OND/HND or Trade Certificate in Mechanical/Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 36 years hands-on experience maintaining commercial HVAC systems with direct working knowledge of Daikin VRV/VRF AHUs and chiller plant.
Working knowledge of BMS-monitored environments; comfortable interpreting BMS alarms and trend data.
Manufacturer-recognised technical training/certification (Daikin or equivalent) is an advantage.
F-Gas/refrigerant handling certification or willingness to obtain is an advantage.
Comfortable working with a CMMS/CAFM system for logging maintenance activity (training provided if not previously used).
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with a methodical safety-first approach to work.
Willingness to work shifts be on standby/on-call and respond to emergency call-outs outside normal hours.
Physically fit and able to work at height and in plant-room/industrial environments.
