Job Summary
In partnership with our client we are seeking an HR Operations Lead to oversee and optimise end-to-end HR operations across both store and corporate environments at a leading retail brand based in Lagos. You will combine strategic oversight with hands-on execution leading a small team driving compliance improving processes and ensuring that HR service delivery is consistent scalable and genuinely supports the business as it grows. Who are we looking for
- You are an experienced HR operations professional with 5 or more years of progressive experience in HR operations including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- You are strategic and process-driven able to see the bigger picture of how HR operations support business growth while staying close enough to the detail to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- You are meticulous and analytically minded with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities and a genuine commitment to accuracy in everything from employee records to payroll inputs.
- You are an excellent communicator and stakeholder manager comfortable working across HR Finance Retail Operations and business unit leaders to deliver seamless HR service.
- You are highly empathetic and approachable able to handle sensitive employee relations matters with discretion fairness and sound judgement.
- You are a proactive problem solver who spots gaps in processes early and takes ownership of fixing them before they escalate.
- You are familiar with multi-location or retail environments and understand the unique workforce challenges that come with managing a frontline and corporate team simultaneously.
- You are proficient in HRIS platforms ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools with experience driving HR reporting and dashboard development.
Your Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Policy
- You will develop and implement HR operational strategies that are aligned with the business objectives establishing and continuously improving HR policies processes and SOPs across the organisation.
- You will drive standardisation of HR practices across store and corporate operations ensuring consistency compliance and a seamless HR experience regardless of location or function.
- You will ensure full compliance with labour laws company policies and all relevant regulatory requirements at all times.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- You will oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle processes including recruitment support onboarding confirmation transfers and exits ensuring every stage is handled with accuracy efficiency and care.
- You will monitor and improve turnaround times for HR service delivery ensuring that employees and managers receive timely and high-quality support at every touchpoint.
HRIS and Data Management
- You will lead the effective use and optimisation of the HRIS and related systems ensuring the accuracy integrity and security of all employee data at all times.
- You will generate and analyse HR metrics to support decision-making including headcount turnover and other key workforce indicators and drive HR reporting automation and dashboard development to improve visibility for leadership.
Payroll and Benefits
- You will oversee payroll inputs validation and coordination with Finance to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing every cycle.
- You will ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including PAYE and pension obligations and manage employee benefits administration resolving any related issues promptly and professionally.
Employee Relations
- You will provide guidance on employee relations matters disciplinary processes and grievance handling serving as the escalation point for complex or sensitive issues and ensuring fair consistent and legally compliant resolution at all times.
- You will support investigations and the resolution of workplace concerns always maintaining confidentiality and upholding the companys values throughout the process.
Retail and Store HR Support
- You will ensure effective HR support for store operations including attendance management scheduling support and frontline workforce issues monitoring compliance with HR policies across all retail locations.
- You will partner with Retail Operations to understand workforce challenges and implement practical solutions that improve productivity and employee experience on the ground.
Process Improvement and Transformation
- You will identify gaps in HR operations and lead the implementation of process improvements that drive automation efficiency and scalability across the HR function.
- You will lead HR operational projects and transformation initiatives acting as a key liaison between HR Finance and business units to deliver meaningful and lasting improvements in how HR serves the organisation.

- HR policies SOPs and processes that are documented standardised and consistently applied across all store and corporate locations with no material compliance gaps.
- Payroll inputs submitted accurately and on time every cycle with zero errors attributable to HR data or process failures.
- A fully optimised HRIS with 100% data accuracy supported by clear HR dashboards and automated reporting that gives leadership real-time visibility into workforce trends.
- Employee lifecycle processes that run smoothly and efficiently with turnaround times that meet or exceed defined service delivery standards.
- A well-managed employee relations function where issues are resolved fairly consistently and in full compliance with labour law and company policy.
- A high-performing HR operations team that is well-led well-supported and consistently delivering excellent service to every employee across the business.
To be considered for this role you should have
- A Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Psychology or a related field.
- An HR certification such as CIPM SHRM-CP/SCP PHR/SPHR or equivalent is a requirement.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in HR operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Solid understanding of full-cycle HR operations labour laws employee engagement strategies and HR best practices.
- Experience managing HR processes in a retail or multi-location environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools including Excel.
- Strong data analysis reporting and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management communication and leadership capabilities.
