About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Hematologist (Oncology) to join a leading oncology healthcare provider in Lekki Lagos. The successful candidate will specialize in the diagnosis treatment and long-term management of patients with benign and malignant hematological disorders including blood cancers such as leukemia lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology team to deliver evidence-based patient-centered care while contributing to clinical excellence research and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
  • Diagnose and manage patients with hematological disorders and blood cancers.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy immunotherapy targeted therapy and supportive care.
  • Interpret laboratory investigations bone marrow biopsies blood smears and molecular diagnostic results.
  • Monitor treatment response and adjust management plans accordingly.
  • Manage hematological emergencies and treatment-related complications.
  • Provide transfusion support and oversee blood product utilization.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings.
  • Collaborate with oncologists surgeons radiologists pathologists pharmacists and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate referrals and continuity of care for patients requiring specialized services.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies clinical protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to infection prevention patient safety and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Patient Education & Support
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis treatment options prognosis and follow-up care.
  • Provide compassionate counseling and support throughout the treatment journey.
  • Promote preventive healthcare and early detection initiatives where applicable.
Research & Professional Development
  • Participate in clinical research and oncology-related educational activities.
  • Stay current with advancements in hematology and oncology practice.
  • Mentor junior doctors and healthcare professionals where required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Fellowship in Hematology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or West African College of Physicians (WACP).
  • Current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Additional oncology-related certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum of 35 years post-fellowship experience as a Hematologist.
  • Proven experience managing patients with hematological malignancies in an oncology or tertiary healthcare setting.
  • Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy protocols is highly desirable.
