Reports to: Finance Operations Associate / Supervisor

Contract Type: Full-time

Location: Abuja (Hybrid)

Charles Ardor makes its clients financials reliable and helps them understand what the figures mean. Our clients rely on those figures to run their businesses so the work has to be right. The Finance Operations Analyst works at the foundation of that process preparing and checking the financial information that the review team builds on. You will work with clients and internal team members. You will handle reconciliations invoices financial schedules month-end activities and tax and payroll-related work within your scope. This is not a data-entry role. You are expected to understand what you are working with notice when something does not look right and investigate it within your level of responsibility.

What this looks like in practice:

You work with the financial records. You process or review transactions invoices bills postings and other accounting information and ensure the records are properly maintained.

You reconcile the figures. You perform bank and other relevant reconciliations investigate differences and follow through on outstanding items.

You check the work. You run preliminary checks on client financial information including trial balances reconciliations and previous correction directives and flag anything that requires further attention.

You support month-end close. You assist with accruals prepayments and other required month-end entries and prepare the schedules and supporting information needed for the close.

You support tax and payroll work. You prepare tax computations and draft VAT WHT PAYE and other relevant statutory work from the available information for further review. Where applicable you also support payroll checks including PAYE pension and other statutory deductions.

You maintain engagement records. You keep engagement trackers and workpapers updated on Zoho Projects.

You investigate discrepancies. When figures do not agree or something looks unusual you look into the underlying records identify what is causing the issue where possible and provide the relevant information for further review.

You follow things through. You track previous correction directives follow up on missing documents and information and make sure outstanding items do not get lost.

You work across teams. You communicate with associates other finance team members clients and other relevant teams to obtain information clarify issues resolve outstanding items and keep work moving.

You improve as you go. You apply feedback to your work build your accounting and analytical skills and improve the standard accuracy and independence of your work over time.


What Good Looks Like After 36 Months

At this stage we are not expecting you to know everything or be fully proficient in every part of the role. We expect to see clear progress from where you started and a stronger understanding of how the firms work is done.

You understand the firms systems processes and expectations for client work.

You are becoming more confident and consistent with financial checks and reconciliations.

You can identify common discrepancies understand when further investigation is needed and know when to seek guidance.

You have developed a stronger working understanding of the tax payroll and statutory requirements relevant to your work.

You understand how correction directives and outstanding items are tracked and followed through.

You communicate effectively across teams and with clients when requesting information clarifying issues or following up on outstanding work.

You are applying feedback and showing improvement in the accuracy organization and overall standard of your work.

You are becoming more confident with the accounting systems Excel/Google Sheets and other tools required for your work.

You are taking increasing ownership of your responsibilities while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance.








Requirements
Requirements

A Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.

12 years of relevant practical accounting experience.

Basic working knowledge of tax and statutory requirements including VAT WHT PAYE and related deductions.

Ability to work with financial information identify discrepancies and investigate issues within your level of responsibility.

Good knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.

Basic knowledge of accounting software. Zoho Books or QuickBooks experience is an advantage.

Careful and accurate in your own work with the ability to notice when something in the records does not look right.

Able to organize your work manage several tasks and follow through on outstanding items.

Able to communicate clearly and professionally across teams and with clients.

Willing to learn receive feedback ask questions when necessary and improve the standard of your work.
