Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to duty for shift briefings and task assignments.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance and electrical and generating systems including lighting power outlets distribution boards cables switchgears control panels synchronization panels etc.
- Assist in operation and routine checks of HT (33kv/11kv) and LT systems transformers generators high capacity UPS backup power systems pump panels etc.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of all panels and generator rooms (cleanliness no obstructions proper labeling pest control etc.).
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks cleaning tightening connections thermal scanning lubrication filter changes etc.
- Conduct daily walk-through inspections of electrical rooms generator room risers common areas and perimeter lighting; report abnormalities immediately.
- Respond to electrical and generator faults tenant complaints and emergency breakdowns (including after-hours call-outs as rostered).
- Troubleshoot simple circuit failures reset breakers replace faulty components (sockets switches lamps starters contactors etc.)
- Escalate complex or high-voltages issues to the electrical supervisor.
- Follow all safety procedures use of PPE lockout/tag out (LOTO) arc-flash mitigation and permit-to-work work logs maintenance records and defect reports in SMART CHECK or other systems.
- Monitor diesel generator operation (start/stop daily checks and fuel levels) and report anomalies.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition; notify supervisor of material shortages.
- Assist in supervising contractor work on site (e.g. witnessing tests ensuring site safety).
- Support general facility maintenance activities when required.
- Must be willing to work day and night shifts Sundays as per duty schedule and public holidays.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the electrical supervisor facilities manager or engineer-in-charge.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in a commercial high-rise or industrial facility.
Educational Qualification: Trade Test certificate (Grade I II or III) national Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering. Completed technical apprenticeship/ Vocational training
Professional Qualification:Any of the following is an additional advantage Basic first aid/ CPR.
Skills & Competences:
- Hands-on Knowledge of HT/LT distribution lighting circuits motors control panels pump panels and distribution boards.
- Ability to read single-line diagrams and electrical with diesel generator operation (basic start/stop monitoring).
- Familiarity with high-capacity UPS systems batteries and earthing troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Basic computer literacy able to log tasks in SMART CHECK or mobile app.
- Clear communication able to report issues verbally and in writing.
- Team player follows instructions works safely under pressure.
- Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts weekends and public holidays.
