About the role:

Based in Wellington Ecolab is seeking a Territory Manager who will be responsible for a territory of accounts and will perform on-site customer evaluations and training in food safety and brand protection practices. You will examine food safety practices employee/customer safety customer service quality and facility cleanliness in a variety of retail food store settings providing quality evaluation data for comprehensive customized reporting for our customers.

What you will do:

  • Field-based role visiting supermarkets and food retail sites

  • Main goal is to improve food safety cleanliness and compliance

  • Conduct regular site audits (monthly or quarterly)

  • Check food safety practices hygiene staff safety and store standards

  • Identify risks and areas needing improvement

  • Train and coach store staff on food safety and best practices

  • Provide clear practical guidance to improve compliance

  • Build strong relationships with customers

  • Act as a trusted advisor to store managers

  • Share audit results and recommend improvements

  • Work with internal account management teams to solve customer issues

  • Write reports after each visit and update customer records

  • Manage your own schedule and plan daily travel routes

  • Maintain and install cleaning and sanitation equipment where needed

  • Role requires strong communication relationship-building and coaching skills

  • Independent role with a mix of auditing training and customer service duties

  • Overnight travel as required (Usually 5 nights per month)

  • Servicing clients across Wellington and surrounds

Preferred background:

  • Experience in food service grocery or hospitality

  • Food safety experience is required

Preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with others including senior level customers including the ability to teach coach and provide guidance and constructive feedback with tact and diplomacy

  • Strong relationship management
