Job Summary

Join us as a Principal Civil Engineer Water in this role you will contribute to the strategic direction and excellence of projects and employees providing technical leadership for the water business unit. The primary purpose of this role is to drive business performance by delivering technically excellent client solutions. 

Your day-to-day will see you:

  • Provide technical expertise and advice during the different stages of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies detailed design strategies and construction
  • Managing project budget timelines and resources to deliver quality outcomes for clients
  • Reviewing technical deliverables to ensure compliance to NZ standards
  • Lead and deliver high quality proposal documentation fee estimation methodology development client liaison and contract negotiation
  • Maintain and foster positive key client relationships with a focus on exceeding client satisfaction by setting high standards for project outcomes
  • Participate actively in business development activities such as bids and tenders driving optimisation of commercial outcomes for clients
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.

Qualifications :

This role is ideal for a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPENG) engineer with 15 years experience who is passionate about water infrastructure and has strong connections within the Canterbury region. You will has significant expertise with Pump Stations Stormwater Water Supply Bulk Wastewater Waters Asset Management and Large diameter pipeline design.

In addition you will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Water Environmental or Natural Resources Engineering
  • CPEng Status
  • Exceptional technical knowledge in water engineering (3 waters) with demonstrated track record of project delivery within New Zealand
  • Demonstrated project management and delivery capability across all lifecycles managing budgets timelines and resource management
  • Strong commercial acumen and business development capability skilled with high level consulting and client management
  • Demonstrated success in winning work inclusive of developing pursuit strategy proposals and client presentations
  • People leadership capability experienced leading and developing technical teams
  • Established market presence and active within industry and associated professional bodies
  • Strong interpersonal skills ability to influence with the capacity to build professional relationships both internally and client facing
  • A good attitude toward developing junior engineers and designers through active mentorship and participating in team development.
