IT DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR II
Based onsite at Rocket Lab in Mt Wellington Auckland NZ the IT Database Administrator II will work closely with the US counterpart to deliver world class SQL Server services to Rocket Lab sites across the globe. You will be expected to collaborate with teams from ERP BI software development and other IT functions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server environments and will be responsible for ensuring the availability performance security and integrity of our mission-critical database systems.
WHATYOULLGET TO DO:
- Design implement andmaintainon-prem and cloudSQL Server database environments (2016/2019/2022)across Rocket Lab
- Manage database availability groups replication and failoverclustering
- Perform database installations upgrades patches andmigrations
- Monitor databaseuptimeperformance& resources resolve performance issues advise onqueryoptimizationand table indexing
- Ensure robustbackup and recovery strategies with tested disaster recovery proceduresare in place
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR HIPAA SOX etc.)
- Provide senior-level technical support for database-related issuesacross all Rocket Lab sitesand ensure effective collaboration/ handoverwith the USA Senior DBA
- Work closely with application support and development teams to deliver robust and high performing business solutions
- Create andmaintaincomprehensiveglobaldocumentation of database systems and procedures
YOULLBRING THESEQUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of experience in IT and a bachelors degree OR equivalent years of work experience (9 years total experience)
- 5 years ofexperience indatabase focused technology role
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification
THESE QUALIFICATIONSWOULD BENICE TOHAVE:
- 5 years ofexperience in SQL Server Database Administrationin adistributedmulti-instance server environment
- Experience with Azure SQL Database and managed instances
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation
- Understanding of Windows Server administration and storage systems
- Experience with database monitoring tools (SolarWindsRedGateIdera etc.)
- Experience withmigration and support ofcloud platforms (Azure AWS)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with other database platforms (Oracle PostgreSQL MySQL)
- Experience with containerization (Docker Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
This position may require prolonged periods of sitting standing walking computer work and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise dust and fumes in production areas.
