Communications Technician Nelson

Ventia is seeking skilled Communication Technicians Inside Plant to support critical infrastructure across the power network. This role focuses on low voltage power systems and communications equipment within controlled environments.

About the Role

As an Inside Plant Technician you will be responsible for the installation commissioning testing and maintenance of communications and power systems that support essential network operations.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Installation and commissioning of low-voltage DC power systems including battery testing and maintenance
• Deployment and commissioning of transmission systems (OTN MPLS SDH PDH)
• Testing and commissioning of inside plant communications equipment
• Fault finding and troubleshooting across communications and DC power systems
• Installation splicing and termination of copper and fibre optic cabling
• Interpretation and updating of technical drawings diagrams and schematics
• Experience in Working at heights will be an advantage
• Electrical registration will be an advantage.

About You

Youll be a technically capable and safety-focused professional with experience in critical infrastructure power or telecommunications environments.

Additionally youll bring:

• Experience with low voltage power plant installation and commissioning
• Knowledge of battery systems and testing procedures
• Exposure to protection systems (desirable)
• Hands-on experience with fibre splicing and installation work
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capability
• Good physical fitness and ability to perform ladder work
• A collaborative approach and commitment to safety
