Laboratory Technician (mwd) – R&D Experimental

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree or PhD in Applied Mathematics Data Science Statistics Computer Science Operations Research Computational Science Engineering Physics or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong understanding of mathematical modelling statistical analysis and computational methods.
• Experience applying analytical techniques to real-world problems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python R MATLAB Julia or similar.
• Experience working with data analysis machine learning optimization simulation or predictive modelling.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

We are looking for a detail-oriented R&D Experimental Technician to join our Research & Development this role you will provide hands-on technical and operational support for experimental activities ensuring high-quality data generation accurate execution of procedures and effective support for scientific and engineering teams.

You will work on the setup execution and monitoring of laboratory and pilot-scale experiments as well as the collection verification and interpretation of technical data. The role combines practical experimental work with structured data handling and offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with researchers engineers and other technical specialists.

This position is ideal for someone who has developed strong technical and practical experience in a laboratory manufacturing or process environment and is looking to further build their expertise within an R&D setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute laboratory and pilot-scale experiments in line with defined procedures and experimental plans.
• Operate monitor and maintain experimental equipment instruments and systems.
• Collect record and verify experimental data ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Provide technical support by responding to queries and assisting with data gathering and issue resolution.
• Check and validate data from multiple sources identifying inconsistencies or anomalies.
• Support troubleshooting of equipment processes and experimental setups.
• Collaborate with scientists engineers and technical teams to support ongoing R&D projects.
• Maintain detailed documentation of experimental work results and observations.
• Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with safety quality and regulatory standards.
• Work within established procedures while handling a variety of routine and moderately complex tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Process Technology Materials Science Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience working in a laboratory pilot plant manufacturing or technical operations environment.
• Understanding of experimental procedures data collection and basic technical analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow structured processes and standard operating procedures.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a technical environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial energy engineering research or technology environment.
• Familiarity with cloud computing high-performance computing or large-scale data processing.
• Experience collaborating with universities research institutes or external technical partners.
• Publications conference presentations or contributions to open-source projects are an advantage.
• Experience with machine learning artificial intelligence optimization techniques or digital twin technologies.
