Job Summary

The Tax & Accounts Supervisor will oversee and drive a portfolio of outsourced accounting and tax engagements ensuring high-quality and timely delivery. This role balances technical execution with leadership involving the supervision of junior associates provision of strategic tax advisory and maintenance of robust client relationships - all while ensuring full compliance with Malaysian regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Advisory
  • Portfolio Execution: Lead personal and corporate (Sdn Bhd and LLP) tax compliance assignments managing tax computations estimates and filings under tight deadlines.

  • Strategic Advisory: Resolve complex tax-related matters and deliver practical tailored tax solutions to clients.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Malaysian corporate tax laws to ensure full client compliance.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Represent clients and the firm in communications with tax authorities and regulatory bodies.

2. Accounting Management
  • Oversight & Accuracy: Supervise accounting and bookkeeping workflows to guarantee the accuracy completeness and integrity of financial records.

  • Client Advisory: Partner with clients to understand their unique business operations and provide tailored accounting and operational strategies.

  • Integrated Delivery: Collaborate closely with the broader team to provide clients with seamless accounting tax and consulting services.

3. Team Leadership & Development
  • Mentorship & Coaching: Direct and mentor junior associates providing continuous on-the-job training and technical guidance to foster career growth.

  • Quality Control: Review working papers and outputs to ensure absolute compliance with internal firm standards and professional regulations.

  • Performance Support: Monitor workflow progress optimize resource allocation and assist management with performance evaluations.

4. Process Optimization & Innovation
  • Efficiency Drive: Identify operational gaps and recommend actionable improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and service delivery.

  • Systems Integration: Support the adoption and implementation of modern accounting tools cloud software and workflow enhancements.



Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting from a recognised university or professional qualification in accounting or taxation.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA CTIM ACCA) and strong technical knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in tax and/or accounting industry.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing accounts and tax engagements.
  • Experience in outsourced accounting tax practice or professional services firm is preferred.
  • Strong technical ability in Malaysian tax and accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a strong team player.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an added advantage.
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in tax software (e.g. Superior Tax Comp).
  • Familiar with accounting software such as AutoCount Bukku Xero and other similar systems.



Required Skills:

Bachelors degree or professional qualification in Accounting (e.g. CA CPA ACCA or equivalent). Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in external audit with prior exposure to quality assurance technical or standards-setting functions preferred. Strong working knowledge of ISA ISQM 1 & 2 MFRS/IFRS and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g. AOB requirements). Experience in handling or supporting regulatory inspections is an advantage. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex standards pragmatically. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical matters clearly to diverse audiences. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure. High attention to detail strong sense of professional integrity and commitment to quality. Collaborative team player with good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. Self-directed and proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.
