Job Summary

As the Head of R&D you will be the strategic architect for product portfolios across the ASEAN region. You will lead a world-class team of scientists and technologists to drive the innovation agenda. Your focus will be on developing sustainable high-performance paints and coatings that meet evolving market demands while ensuring operational excellence and technical compliance.


Develop and execute a robust RD&I roadmap aligned with the companies sustainability ambitions and regional business goals.

Manage the end-to-end innovation pipeline from early-stage research to commercial product launch ensuring "speed to market."

Drive Value Engineering initiatives to optimize product costs without compromising quality

Ensure all R&D activities comply with international safety regulatory and Product Stewardship standards.

Direct root cause analysis (RCA) for complex technical issues and lead continuous improvement in product performance.

Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless technology transfer from lab to production.

Manage and mentor a diverse team of R&D professionals fostering a culture of high performance and inclusive innovation.

Act as the primary technical liaison for regional commercial leaders marketing teams and external innovation partners/suppliers.



Requirements

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Materials Science or a related technical field. A PhD is often considered a strong advantage.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive R&D experience within the chemical paints or coatings industry.

Proven track record (5 years) in a senior leadership role within a multinational corporation (MNC)

Expert knowledge of polymer chemistry coating formulations and application technologies.

Demonstrated success in managing complex cross-functional technical projects using structured methodologies (e.g. Stage-Gate).

Ability to translate high-level business needs into technical requirements and long-term research strategies
