Costing Engineer – MEP or Installation

Role Purpose:

To provide accurate cost estimation for MEP equipment and on-site installation activities from an owners perspective. This role supports procurement decisions budget control and value engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for direct supply items (transformers UPS switchgear chillers cooling towers etc.) including equipment freight taxes and delivery.

• For Installation Costing: Estimate on-site labor rates subcontractor expenses productivity factors and installation efficiency for data centre fit-out.

• Benchmark costs against industry standards historical data and market intelligence.

• Support value engineering exercises by comparing alternative designs/materials.

• Work with procurement to validate supplier quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Prepare cost breakdowns for management approval and board presentations.

• Track actual vs estimated costs and provide variance analysis.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.

• 5 years in MEP costing or installation costing for data centres industrial plants or large-scale infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of data centre MEP systems (electrical cooling fire protection BMS).

• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Excel.

• Understanding of local labor rates and subcontracting practices in Malaysia/SEA
