Associate Legal Counsel

About the Role

The Assistant Manager Legal (to be designated to Associate Legal Counsel) is responsible for managing in-house legal and contract matters that safeguard DKSHs commercial interests across Malaysia. This role is central to enabling sound business operations by delivering expert legal counsel driving compliance and strengthening governance frameworks across the organization.

What You Will Deliver

• Manage and resolve commercial contract matters including Information Technology (IT) and software contracts ensuring full compliance with company policies governance frameworks and codes of business conduct and ethics
• Draft review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts business agreements and legal documents to protect and advance DKSHs interests
• Lead country legal and compliance projects identifying gaps and driving timely resolution to strengthen the organizations legal posture
• Provide high-quality legal advisory to internal stakeholders underpinned by a thorough understanding of the business and its operational processes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external legal advisors and the broader legal community to stay current with evolving laws regulations and best practices
• Manage the DKSH Groups internal legal contract database and deliver training to internal stakeholders on its effective and compliant use
• Oversee Group trademark management including maintaining accurate trademark records and serving as the key liaison with trademark solicitors
• Advise on litigation matters and debt recovery actions manage external legal counsel and represent DKSHs interests effectively in key legal proceedings and arbitrations
• Administer due diligence processes and conduct legal research to enforce a structured and rigorous approach to legal management
• Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required

What You Bring

• Degree in Law from a top-tier university in Malaysia or abroad; qualified to practice law; admission to the Malaysian Bar is preferred
• Minimum 6 years of experience practicing law in a law firm with business law orientation or within an in-house legal department ideally in a locally listed organization
• Advanced knowledge of corporate law contract law commercial law and IT/Software-related law including country-specific legislation applicable to Malaysia Singapore and Brunei
• Exposure and experience in the Healthcare Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Performance Materials or Technology industries is an advantage
• Extensive experience in legal management including team organization coverage and sourcing models legal process outsourcing and relevant legal technology
• Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with integrity and sound judgment
• Fluent in English both written and spoken; proficiency in additional languages is an asset
• Strong cultural sensitivity and interpersonal adaptability particularly in cross-country and cross-cultural interactions
• Proficiency in office productivity tools including Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint
