Job Description
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic academic with experience of learning and teaching. The postholder will be expected to have a broad knowledge of management asa discipline. The postholder will join the Edinburgh Business School Malaysia as Assistant Professorfor Financial Analytics and will be key member of the team delivering our programmes. To coordinateacross campuses the successful candidate will be expected to develop strong links with colleagues inEdinburgh and Dubai.

The role will be based at the Universitys campus in Putrajaya the administrative capital of will be delivered in English and so fluency in English is essential. An induction programmewill be delivered to all new academic staff on Heriot-Watts standards and values and to give practicalexperience on preparation delivery and assessment of teaching.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Undertake teaching assessment setting and marking on academic programmes. Supportcolleagues in other campuses in the delivery of courses and other activities to support the delivery of HWUMs aims.
2. Develop relevant materials in appropriate formats for the above programmes. Contribute to thecontent design and delivery of the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning inconsultation with colleagues and within the international structures and mechanisms established by the University. Review teaching design and delivery by obtaining and analysing feedback fromstudents and peers.
3. Mentor and supervise students providing effective well documented and timely feedback bothformative and summative. Provide pastoral support recognising when to refer a student forfurther support. Play a key role in the delivery and support of an excellent student learningexperience at HWUM.
4. Develop the level of subject expertise in line with latest development in research and ensure these developments are reflected in teaching materials and methods.
5. Work collaboratively with colleagues in Malaysia at other campuses and with external networksboth for the exchange of information to share learning and to form relationships for futurecollaboration.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

• Masters or PhD in Financial Analytics

Desirable

• PhD in Financial Analytics

Experience

Essential

• Teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Experience of reviewing and updating teaching materials
• Clear communicator with good presentation skills explaining concepts well

Desirable

• Track record in research led teaching.
• Experience of maintaining and developing new links with industry.

Competencies Skills & Knowledge

Essential

• Fluent (verbal and written) in English
• Competence in teaching a range of finance and analytics courses.
• An ability to apply knowledge acquired from research into teaching materials and methods
