Job Description
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia is seeking to appoint a casual academic staff member to support the delivery of Probability Statistics and Information Theory for the September intake. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assessment and student support for the course ensuring an engaging and high-quality learning experience in line with Heriot-Watt Universitys academic standards. The role will be based at the Universitys campus in Putrajaya Malaysia. Programmes are delivered in English and therefore fluency in English is essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver Probability Statistics and Information Theory in accordance with the academic standards requirements and expectations of the University.
Undertake teaching and assessment duties with classes that might have to be conducted on weekends.
Guidance and support for students including providing additional assistance where necessary.
Liaise with the global course leader to ensure alignment and consistency in course delivery.
Preparation for all tutoring activities.
Marking of examination papers and the completion of all related administrative duties in compliance with the policies procedures and requirements of the University.
This list of services to be provided may be amended from time to time through discussion and agreement with the coordinating person from the University.

Education & Qualifications
Essential:
Masters degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Electronic Engineering Mathematics Statistics Data Science Information Engineering or a related discipline.
Desirable:
PhD in a relevant discipline; professional or teaching qualification in higher education.
Experience
Essential:
Experience teaching Probability Statistics Information Theory or related subjects at tertiary level; ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively; experience preparing and marking assessments.
Desirable:
Experience teaching in an international higher education environment; positive student feedback record; experience using learning management systems.
Competencies Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; sound knowledge of probability statistics and information theory; ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds; ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues.
Desirable:
Experience with online or blended learning delivery; familiarity with UK higher education quality standards.
Special Factors (if applicable)
Essential:
Eligibility to be recognised as a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
Availability to teach during the September intake period
Desirable:
Prior experience teaching equivalent undergraduate courses
