Assistant Manager – Financial Accounting & Reporting

Job Summary
Overview
The Assistant Manager Financial Accounting & Reporting is responsible for ensuring accurate financial accounting statutory compliance and timely financial reporting for ADL Malaysia. The role also supports group-level consolidation and Axiata Group reporting requirements ensuring consistency and compliance with group accounting policies.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting (Entity Level)
- Maintain accurate and complete books of accounts in compliance with local/ international accounting standards and ADL accounting policies
- Prepare and post journal entries including accruals provisions and adjustments
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (including bank reconciliations) and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Support monthly quarterly and annual financial close activities
- Prepare statutory financial statements schedules and supporting notes
- Maintain proper accounting documentation and audit trails
- Coordinate month-end and year-end close timelines in line with group requirements
Audit & Compliance(Entity Level)
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
- Coordinate with auditors to provide timely information explanations and clarifications
- Support the implementation documentation and maintenance of internal controls
Taxation(Entity Level)
- Oversee corporate income tax SST withholding tax and other statutory tax matters
- Ensure accurate and timely tax computations filings payments and reconciliations
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation and compliance where applicable
- Oversee and manage tax audits inquiries and correspondence with tax authorities
Group Financial Reporting (Group Level)
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements for the ADL Group
- Perform group consolidation adjustments and eliminations
- Maintain and enhance the group consolidation model and supporting schedules
- Ensure consistent application of group accounting policies across all entities
Axiata Group Reporting (Group Level)
- Maintain and update controller export files and supporting reporting templates
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of Axiata controller reports (monthly quarterly and annually)
Person Specifications
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Professional qualification (ACCA CIMA CA(M) or equivalent) is preferred or in progress
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting reporting or audit
- Prior experience in group consolidation and statutory reporting is an advantage
- Experience working in a shared services multinational or technology environment is preferred
- Exposure to Axiata Group reporting or similar large-group reporting frameworks is an advantage
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (MFRS / IFRS)
- Solid understanding of taxation matters in Malaysia
- Experience with ERP systems and consolidation tools
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
