Commencing Aug 24 We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the position of Head of Visual Arts Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to our Visual Arts Department fostering a creative and collaborative environment and ensuring the highest standards of artistic education and expression.

The school founded in 2016 is a K12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrates natural ecology cultural heritage and modern beauty with 140000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Primary School grades K5 the Middle School grades 68 and High School grades 912. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nineyear compulsory education program the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and Western education.
For Primary and Middle School students follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum.
For High School the students follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also the school offers the UK IGCSE and ALevel UK programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Vision:

    • Develop and articulate a compelling vision for the Visual Arts Department aligning with the overall mission and goals of the institution.
    • Provide visionary leadership to faculty and staff inspiring a culture of innovation creativity and excellence.
  2. Curriculum Development:

    • Oversee the design development and implementation of a comprehensive visual arts curriculum that meets the needs of a diverse student body.
    • Stay current with industry trends and educational best practices to continually enhance the curriculum.
  3. Faculty Management:

    • Recruit lead and develop a team of talented and passionate visual arts educators.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and creativity among faculty members.
  4. Student Engagement:

    • Ensure a positive and engaging learning experience for students promoting a love for the visual arts and nurturing their artistic talents.
    • Implement strategies to support student success and achievement in both academic and artistic endeavors.
  5. Resource Management:

    • Manage departmental resources effectively including budgets equipment and facilities to support the delivery of highquality visual arts education.
    • Seek opportunities for fundraising and external partnerships to enhance departmental resources.
  6. Community Outreach:

    • Cultivate relationships with the local community art organizations and industry partners to create opportunities for student internships exhibitions and collaborative projects.
    • Represent the Visual Arts Department at relevant events and conferences.
  7. Assessment and Continuous Improvement:

    • Implement assessment strategies to measure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
    • Use assessment data to drive continuous improvement efforts within the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Applications are open to persons of any nationality
Fouryear degree from an accredited university
Bachelor of Education PGCE or higher
Teaching license: QTS national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
Three years of experience teaching in a bilingual school international school or government/state school

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum qualifications plus the following:
Masters degree preferably in education or the subject the teacher instructs
Five years of experience teaching in a bilingual school international school or government/state school
Candidates currently living in China are preferred
