Technical Spares Specialist - Procurement

Job purpose

Ensure smooth and on time assistance and support for Technical spares & have indepth knowledge of spare parts and suppliers and contractors and have experience negotiating skills.

Main responsibilities and key tasks

• Responsible for procurement of Spare / technical Parts.
• Sourcing of Spares & Coordinate with Plant Store / Technical manager.
• Monitoring of minimum stock level & Total Inventory Mgmt.
• Read catalogs microfiche viewers or computer displays in order to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
• Determine replacement parts required according to inspections of old parts customer requests or customers descriptions of malfunctions.
• Take inventory of stock in close coordination with plant store manager
• Examine returned parts for defects and exchange defective parts or refund money.
• Discuss use and features of various parts based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
• Decide in alignment with Technical Manager on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements of part are not available in urgent / critical scenarios.
• Implement & follow up the foreign requisitions for spare parts & machinery supplies within the approved budgets that ensure on time delivery with the minimum costs for all items within purchasing cycle.
  Check all tenders and purchase orders documents specifications for spare parts materials equipments technical services and consultancy agreements.
  Check all correspondences with suppliers.
• Negotiate with suppliers if needed to get the most appropriate prices & conditions.
  Monitor the contract preparation and order placement in the right time according purchasing cycle.
  Handle and settle any claims for any unaccepted items.
  Synchronize and coordinate works & activities with all other Sections / Departments.
• Survey efficiently the spare parts markets for competitive substitutes.

Job requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Graduate Engineer (Preferably Mechanical or Automotive) with minimum of 5 years experience in Planning Procurement and inventory management of spare parts with a leading manufacturer/Distributor or dealer. Preference will be given to candidates with additional qualification in Materials Management.
• Good exposure of Spares Management for manufacturing industry.
• Min 5 years relevant experience in Planning Procurement and inventory management of spare parts with a Preference will be given to candidates with additional qualification in Materials Management.

Job complexity and challenges

• Revise parts orders from the technical point of view.
• Ensuring that the fleet parts system is updated with allocation details and details of returned parts (if found) as appropriate.
• Daily check with the warehouse to solve any conflict regarding the stock.
• Do visits to customers locations for sourcing alternate vendors to maintain Supplier Master data.
• Assesses operation costs and recommended actions to maximize efficiency.
• Preparation of technical documentation and needed datasheets.
• Formulating technicalcommercial offers based on client specifications.
• Searching for local suppliers.
• Reporting weekly activities and visits
