Sustainability Analyst - LCA (f/m/n)

Planet A is looking for an LCA expert based in Germany (full-time - f/m/n)

Tasks

• Analyze the environmental performance of investment opportunities and identify potential risks
• Assess the impact of innovative products and services across different sectors and regions as part of the research team
• Calculate Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of products and services, gather data in consultation with start-ups; analyze ecological footprints in terms of energy, water, waste, air emissions etc.
• Further develop Planet A s impact assessment methodology (eg. in regards to biodiversity protection)
• Prepare environmental research to form new investment hypotheses
• Support portfolio startups (on request) and work closely with our internal and external network of experts
• Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio companies

Requirements

• A Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial or Industrial ecology, Natural Sciences or similar with outstanding academic results. A strong technical or engineering background is required.
• Academic or industry research experience conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) is a key requirement.
• Knowledge of consequential LCA or methods to assess biodiversity is an asset but not a must.
• Passion for calculating and understanding environmental impact with excellent analytical skills, an eye for details, structured work approach and prioritizing skills as well as problem-solving orientation and planning skills.
• A self-starter, able to work independently and take initiative but also a team player with a strong work ethic, humility, a can-do attitude and a collaborative mindset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills together with solid stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written German and English.
• Experienced in using Google or MS-Office applications, esp. Excel/Google Sheets; Aptitude for learning new software.
• Open-minded, communicative team player with the urge to learn and grow together within flat hierarchies.
