Overview:
An Optometrist plays a crucial role in providing primary vision care services such as comprehensive eye exams and vision tests. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating visual and refractive conditions prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses and providing guidance on general eye health. Optometrists work to ensure the optimal eye health and visual performance of their patients contributing to their overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect potential eye diseases or conditions
- Evaluate patients visual needs and provide accurate prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Diagnose and manage various eye conditions such as glaucoma cataracts and macular degeneration
- Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and technology to analyze and treat visual problems
- Promote eye health and disease prevention through patient education and counseling

Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Licensure to practice optometry in the relevant state or region
- Proven experience in conducting comprehensive eye examinations and vision tests
- Solid understanding of ocular diseases conditions and therapeutic treatments
- Proficiency in prescribing and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Strong knowledge of advanced diagnostic tools and equipment
