In a nutshell

As a Medior Machine Learning Engineer at Picnic youll work on creating intelligent automated systems to solve our companys biggest challenges at scale. You wont stop at building a modelyoull productionize it. Ensuring robust monitoring is in place that predictions seamlessly integrate with operational systems and that stakeholders know you are building the right thing. Youre more than a model builder: youre a blend of internal consultant software engineer and applied mathematician.

At Picnic a wide variety of machinelearning models is already running in production. In the Inbound team you could work on improving the Temporal Fusion Transformer model that predicts article demand on a large scalea direct input for our ordering system. In our Payment team you could work on our realtime payment fraud detection system to ensure we block fraudulent orders not happy customers.

You might think Sounds good but 80% of my job is going to be cleaning data. Not here. Our data is registered logged consistent and immaculate. Were a mature team with the infrastructure tools and expertise to get models into production.

What youll do

You could work on various projects and fields such as:

• Demand forecasting: delivery article trip volumes used Picnicwide

• Fraud detection: helping us keep troublemakers out of our store

• Recommendation systems: generating useful inapp grocery suggestions

• Search and ranking: helping our customers find exactly what they need

• Predicting delivery dropoff times: making sure were ontime at every customers door.

You will definitely:

• Work closely with other Machine Learning Engineers and (product) analysts to identify improvement possibilities and execute them.
• Collaborate on your project from inception to production to continuous improvement
• Develop tools and enhancements for our cloudbased data science platform

Technologies we use

• Python (Scikitlearn PyTorch Tensorflow FastAPI or we build our own packages)
• SQL (Snowflake Postgres)

• Docker

About you

• Masters degree or higher in AI Computer Science Mathematics or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in data science
• Some experience with maintaining productionlevel ML solutions and eager to learn about solid software engineering principles and ML principles
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Good communication skills and ability to transfer knowledge to business stakeholders and the rest of the data science team
• Comfortable with taking responsibility showing initiative and working independently
• Ability to think outside the box and an anythingispossible mindset
• Quality control: commitment to excellence performance and efficiency
• Experience with Docker Kubernetes and CI is a plus.
