Job Title: Head Chef - Care Home

Location: Oxford

Job Type: Full-Time (40-45 hours per week, 4 days a week, including alternative weekends)

Salary: 18.60 per hour

Working Hours: 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM (10-hour shifts)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Chef with a strong background in care home catering. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals for our residents, ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are met while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the well-being and happiness of our residents through exceptional culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Menu Planning and Development:

Create well-balanced and nutritious menus tailored to the dietary requirements and preferences of the care home residents.

Develop seasonal menus and special occasion menus.

Food Preparation and Cooking:

Prepare meals from scratch using fresh ingredients.

Ensure that food is presented attractively and maintains high-quality standards.

Dietary Management:

Accommodate special dietary needs, including allergies and dietary restrictions.

Monitor portion control to prevent food waste.

Kitchen Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness and organization.

Manage kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.

Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP guidelines.

Conduct regular kitchen inspections and implement corrective actions.

Budget Management:

Work within budget constraints while maintaining food quality and variety.

Monitor food costs and suggest cost-saving measures.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct regular taste tests and seek feedback from residents to improve the dining experience.

Implement quality control measures to ensure consistency.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Head Chef in a care home or similar healthcare setting.

Culinary degree or equivalent certification.

Strong knowledge of dietary needs and nutrition for the elderly.

Food safety and hygiene certifications.

Leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Hours:

The Head Chef will work 4 days a week, including alternative weekends.

Shifts will be 10 hours long, from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

Salary:

The salary for this position is 18.60 per hour.

References:

Candidates must provide at least 5 years of professional references.

Burger Cooking Experience: Previous experience cooking burgers is preferred, but candidates with a passion for cooking and a willingness to learn will also be considered. Fast-Paced Kitchen Environment: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and handle high-demand situations without compromising quality or efficiency. Attention to Detail: Demonstrate attention to detail in burger preparation, ensuring consistent presentation and adherence to recipes. Food safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices specific to burger preparation, including proper handling of ingredients and cooking temperatures. Team Player: Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow and outstanding customer experience. Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in responding to changing circumstances in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
