Job Description:

The Grinder is responsible for grinding and finishing metal castings to ensure that they meet quality standards and customer requirements. The Grinder will use various hand tools, power tools, and grinding machines to smooth and shape metal surfaces, remove excess material, and polish the finished product

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine grinding requirements. Use various hand tools, power tools, and grinding machines to remove excess material, smooth and shape metal surfaces, and achieve the desired finish. Check the quality of the workpiece using measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers to ensure that it meets customer specifications. Identify and report any defects or issues with the workpiece to the Production Supervisor. Follow safety procedures and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Keep the work area clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working order. Collaborate with other members of the production team to ensure that production targets are met, and quality standards are maintained. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience in a similar role preferred. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and grinding machines required. Familiarity with measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Working Conditions:

The Grinder will work in a foundry environment, which may include exposure to high temperatures, dust, and noise. The Grinder will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times and follow safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. The Grinder may be required to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production targets.
