The School seeks to appoint an Early Years (Foundation Stage) Teacher for August 2024. Foundation Stage teachers at BISC deliver high-quality, creative teaching, based and on the UK's Framework for the Early Years. The British International School, Cairo is a co-educational school with 1,160 pupils aged 3-18 (580 pupils in the Junior School). Person Specification

  • To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years teaching experience post-QTS;.
  • enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a genuine passion for teaching in the Early Years, who can motivate and inspire students using a variety of strategies;
  • includes conducting baseline assessment, on-going assessment, culminating in assessment against the Early Learning Goals;
  • considers the individual needs, interests, and development of each child in the class, and use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience in all areas of learning and development;
  • works as a member of a team in a collaborative manner;
  • committed to her/his own professional development;
  • enjoys the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities;
  • meets our child protection and safeguarding requirements in full.

Remuneration

The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a similar teaching scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary (2023-2024) for a teacher with three years experience is £36,000 p.a. while the salary of the majority of staff (six years experience or more) is over £41,500 p.a.

In addition all overseas contract teachers benefit from a generous housing allowance, private BUPA Gold medical insurance, annual return flights to the UK, and 2 free places for children of school age.
